Keep your traffic on your site

A quick tip for keeping more website traffic

The purpose of content marketing is to bring traffic TO your website so you can engage visitors with the products and services you offer.

With blog posts you want to bring people in and share information. You may also want to share useful information provided by others.

It’s surprising how many quite professional newsletters and blogs still give away traffic they could keep. I saw it again today.  I was reading an article I liked, I followed an interesting link and their article vanished.  I did a quick back arrow to the article so I could save it – but they could have lost me if I wasn’t in serious research mode.

Share useful information without giving traffic away completely

If you are linking to an external website for content, then make sure the link
opens in a new tab.

With this setting, the starting window stays open and there’s a better chance your visitor will stay with you.

In WordPress it looks like this:

Share information – but don’t give your hard-earned web traffic away completely.
